Hello Beautiful Sharon,

The other day, I had a conversation with someone I love that took a sharp turn into negativity.

They were in a bad mood, and in their effort, they said, to be helpful, they offered me lots of criticism and judgment.

Before I knew it, I was right there with them.

I got pulled into judgment, self-doubt, and feelings of unworthiness.

When I left I felt drained.

Even when we know better, we can still hand our power over to other people, circumstances, fear, bad news, or painful old stories.

The good news is, we can come back.

Right away, I showed up for myself with what I call The Opposite Game

How do I feel? → How do I want to feel?

Judged → Appreciated
Hopeless → Hopeful
Worried → Optimistic

These questions shifted my mood back to happy.

In fact, I felt even better than I had before the conversations.

And feeling good matters.

It is a big deal to feel good in the now moment.

Don’t we all want to spend way less time in pain and suffering and more time being happy?

And that doesn’t even account for all the benefits of feeling good.

Research suggests that positive emotional states help us think more clearly, make better decisions, recover faster from stress, build resilience, strengthen relationships, support immune function, and even contribute to longer, healthier lives.

When we feel good, our awareness opens. We see more possibilities, recognize opportunities, and become more creative, flexible, and resourceful.

In other words, life works better.

And the more often we reach for better-feeling thoughts, the more we train the brain to find them, making it easier to return to hope, optimism, and well-being.
