Do you want to change? The answer is not pressure, fear, or pushing harder. But most of us were trained to feed negative thinking.

We were taught to worry, to expect the worst, to replay what went wrong, and to believe our negative stories about ourselves and life.

When the brain feels stressed or threatened, it reaches for what has brought us comfort.

When we feel pain, the mind looks for relief. So it reaches for whatever has soothed us before.

Smoking. Drinking. Scrolling. Sugar. Overeating. Gossiping.

A quick distraction. A temporary comfort. Fast relief.

This is not weakness. It is natural. We are guided to feel good. 

But when we rely on outside things to feel better and never develop inner beliefs like “I am safe,” “I can handle this,” and “all is well,” along with other supportive thoughts, the nervous system stays unsettled.

Without those calming messages, we keep looking outside ourselves for relief, and too often the habits we turn to and reinforce are negative ones.
