I’ve witnessed clients walk in with the flu and leave feeling dramatically better, or even symptom-free.

How does that happen?

In our session, I guide them to shift their mindset from the discomfort to a state of comfort.

This week, I invite you to try the same.

Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, try shifting your attention toward something that feels good.

Here’s an example:

You wake up and notice a mess your spouse left in the kitchen. Instantly, your mind goes to all the other times he’s left messes. Your neck tightens, your forehead tenses, and suddenly you’re moving toward a headache, upset stomach, or bowel discomfort.

Now imagine shifting your focus:

You remember how he fixed your car, checked the fluids, and made sure the tires were filled. You feel the care behind that act, and then notice your neck soften and your body feel more comfortable.

If you don’t feel a difference at first, keep going.

You’re training your nervous system toward calm.

Heads up: sometimes we have to let go of old reactions.

That means using our will power to choose a different focus, even if it feels like “efforting” at first.

Most of us were taught that tension or judgment would somehow help us get what we want, but it actually pulls us further from relief.

Think of the moments when holding onto irritation or being “right” didn’t really serve you.

Build your faith by remembering the times when you were relaxed and appreciative, and noticed more cooperation, support, and answers flowing into your life.

Feeling good not only makes you happier, it supports your long-term physical and mental well-being and helps you make clearer, healthier choices.

Science confirms this:

  • Research shows that positive emotions are linked with improved health outcomes—lower blood pressure, healthier weight, better blood-sugar levels, and even increased longevity (NIH; News in Health).

  • Psychologist Barbara Fredrickson’s “broaden-and-build” theory demonstrates that emotions like joy, gratitude, and appreciation actually broaden your thinking and help you build internal resources—psychological, social, and even physical.

In other words: good feelings don’t just feel good- it helps you become healthier and happier.
