Hello Beautiful Sharon,

We all have blind spots, that's human nature, patterns that can undermine us without conscious awareness.

Maybe you’ve felt the effects in relationships, self-care, success, or finances … you know something isn't working but you're not sure why ...

It's not because something is wrong with you, or because you are not a good person, or capable person …

But because your mind and nervous system learned ways to try and protect you.

Many people were taught, directly or indirectly, that making mistakes, disappointing others, feeling strong emotions, failing, or not having all the answers is unsafe or “wrong.”

So instead of learning how to move through emotions safely and grow from experience, we develop protective patterns to give us soothing and relief.

We become defensive.
We overreact.
We shut down.
We people-please.
We avoid hard conversations.
We blame.
We criticize.
We withdraw.
We stay busy.
We numb with food, alcohol, scrolling, shopping, or overworking.

And often … it all happens automatically, outside of awareness.

Neuroscience shows that when the nervous system is under stress, the brain shifts into survival mode.

In that state, reflection, perspective, time awareness, and emotional regulation become temporarily reduced, while protective reactions take over.

Over time, these protective responses can become habits.

And those habits can quietly affect daily life in very real ways.

Some possible examples in everyday life:

Running late often, as stress builds, time awareness and prioritization can drop, or unconscious resistance to pressure shows up in small delays
Snapping or yelling, when the nervous system is overloaded, emotional regulation goes offline and reactivity takes over
Missing or forgetting appointments, not lack of care, but attentional overload, stress, or mental fatigue disrupting memory and tracking
Not following through on intentions, overwhelm, fear of failure, or perfectionism (“if I can’t do it right, I don’t start”)
Starting but not finishing things, motivation drops when pressure rises, or emotional resistance appears once something feels demanding
Losing track of time or commitments, cognitive overload reduces executive function (planning, sequencing, follow-through)
Reacting without awareness in the moment, fight-or-flight activation reduces access to reflective thinking until later

These are not character flaws.

They are often stress-patterned nervous system responses that have become automatic.

And while these patterns may have protected you to some extent …

They more likely added- stress, conflict, disconnection, overwhelm, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion.

The beautiful truth is this:

These patterns are not who you are.

They are learned responses.

And anything learned can be changed.

Neuroscience shows the brain and nervous system remain capable of change throughout life.

New emotional patterns, calm, clarity, confidence, and healthier responses can become more natural with repetition and awareness.

Awareness is where change begins.

The moment you notice a pattern without judging yourself, you interrupt it.

You create space.

And in that space, choice becomes possible again.

This is one reason hypnosis, calming the nervous system, conscious breathing, and self-awareness practices can be so powerful. They can disrupt the old patterns and responses, and create space for new reactions.

Sometimes we cannot fully see our own blind spots from inside the pattern itself.

A compassionate outside perspective can bring clarity to what has been hidden in plain sight.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve helped thousands of people uncover unconscious emotional patterns connected to stress, habits, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, self-doubt ...

If you’d like support uncovering and shifting the unconscious patterns affecting your happiness, health, relationships, or habits, I invite you to schedule a free Discovery Session or explore my hypnosis sessions and recordings below.
