Hello Beautiful, Sharon,

Some of the beliefs that limit us don't sound negative at all. They sound like facts.

“I’m not a morning person.” “I’m no good with technology.” “I'm just a worrier...”

We can think these thoughts for so long that we stop questioning them. They become beliefs, patterns of thought we have consistently practiced over time that become part of our identity and shape our reality.

But I know more is possible for each of us. Through our work together in hypnosis, clients discover that just because they have believed something for years doesn't mean it is unchangeable.

One client came convinced she was losing her memory. She started noticing it when she turned 65, during a stressful period. She was forgetting things, then worrying about forgetting, and then noticing even more evidence that her memory was failing her.

As we worked together, she recognized how much stress and fear were affecting her ability to recall things. She released her fears around losing her memory, shifted other reactive patterns, and strengthened her belief in her capable brain by recognizing all she had organized, kept track of and accomplished that year.

She began trusting her mind again. After our work together, she told me she thought her memory was better than it had ever been.

Another client believed she was “no good at technology.” She was spending a ridiculous amount of money hiring people to set things up for her business, then unable to keep things going. It left her with debt and no momentum forward.

As we worked together, we built up her faith in her abilities by remembering all the things she had learned in the past, releasing her fears of making mistakes and failing, and changing her belief that just because she struggled in the beginning didn't mean she couldn't learn it.

She became eager to become her own expert. Her confidence grew, and she began trusting herself to learn and figure things out.

Now she enjoys helping her friends learn some of the technology she once believed she couldn't handle.

Research on learning and neuroplasticity shows that repeated patterns can become automatic, but the brain can develop new ones through experience, attention and practice.

That's what I love about hypnosis. We can work with patterns that have been there for decades and open ourselves to something new.

Sometimes these beliefs are thoughts we've repeated ourselves. Sometimes they began with something someone else told us:

“You're too sensitive.”
“You're not athletic.”
“You're not very smart.”

Over time, we can start believing these labels as if they are facts about who we are.

What have you decided is simply “who I am” or “the way it is”?

“I'm lazy. I just don't have the discipline.”
“I'm just not a morning person."
"I'm not good at school ..."
“I'm always worrying. That's just how I am.”
“I always procrastinate.”

What if these aren't fixed parts of who you are, but well-practiced patterns that can change?

Is there a belief you'd love to change. Check out my Change One Thing Session offer below. Ends on Monday.

There is no better gift than feeling good in the now moment.

With love and joy,

Sharon
