Feeling good is powerful medicine for a happy brain and a healthy body.
I know this, but I forget sometimes, caught up in my temporary concerns.
This morning, I was stressing about something, but then I had the rare opportunity to go for a walk with my daughter. I reminded myself: why not enjoy being with her instead of focusing on my worries? Worrying won’t solve anything. What a concept, I can choose. I didn’t always know that; worries and fears used to consume me.
On the drive back home, the choice came again: focus on my concerns, or enjoy the beautiful fall scenery. I did a little of both, but mostly, I chose to feel good.
At one time, I had lots of health issues, but now I don’t. I credit it to showing up for myself, letting go more often, and making it a priority to feel good no matter what. And when I do, not only is life more fun, but things always work out better.
Science backs this up, stress floods our bodies with cortisol and adrenaline, which over time can weaken immunity, increase pain, and cloud thinking.
But when we feel good our bodies release feel-good hormones like endorphins and oxytocin, which calm the mind, boost resilience, support brain function, improve clarity, and enhance problem-solving. Feeling good truly helps the brain and body heal, think clearly, and thrive.
And best of all feeling good feels good!
