"Hello Beautiful Sharon,
Spend time practicing feeling good. Bask in your blessings, enjoy your journey, and savor your successes. Take moments to remember what has worked out, to notice your growth, your resilience, and your evolution, and give thanks. Each time you do, you strengthen your faith in the good things yet to come, and build a foundation of positivity. Then the next time life feels challenging, you’ll find it easier to return to that calm, centered feeling of well-being.

💖 Real Talk
Life brings challenges. Your child gets called into the principal’s office, yet again. Your car breaks down, and there’s no money to fix it. Your spouse is going through chemo, and the results aren’t what you’d hoped.
Know this: you’re not alone. We’re all living real, messy lives. It’s normal to feel fear, panic, anger, frustration and any and all negative feelings!
But here’s the truth: feeling good will serve you better.
Can You Really Respond Differently?
Can you face the unwanted and still feel good? Yes - you absolutely can. It begins with what you believe and how you train your mind to respond.
Ask yourself:
-
🌿 Do I believe I have a choice in how I react?
-
🌸 Do I believe feeling better helps me and those around me?
-
💖 Do I have “go-to” thoughts that bring calm, peace, comfort, or optimism?
If you've answered no to any of these questions, chances are it will be easy to get swept up in worry when unwanted conditions strike.
🌿 What Science Tells Us
Most of our thoughts are repetitive and most lean negative.
🧠 We think about 6,200 thoughts per day.
Using fMRI brain scans, researchers at Queen’s University found people have about 6.5 new thoughts per minute, roughly 6,200 per day. (Healthline summary, 2020)
🔁 Our minds replay the same worries.
Research shows people often get stuck in repetitive negative thinking - worry, rumination, or self-criticism - which keeps the stress system activated. (Journal of Affective Disorders, 2019)
⚡ The brain reacts more strongly to negative input.
Neuroscientists call this the negativity bias, the brain naturally pays more attention to threats than to neutral or positive signals. (Wiley Online Library, 2023)
In short, our brains are wired to notice what’s wrong and replay it. That’s why it takes intention and practice to shift toward peace and optimism.
The good news? With awareness and repetition, you can teach your mind to focus on what brings calm, comfort, and relief instead.
💫 Feeling Good Is a Skill
Feeling good isn’t luck. For some, it comes naturally, but for most of us, it’s a learned skill we can strengthen with awareness and practice.
To build this skill, you need:
-
🌿 A belief that the effort is worth it
-
🌸 A Belief that life truly works better when you feel better
-
💖 Go-to thoughts that feel good and replace the old repetitive negative ones
Ways to Nurture Your Positivity
✨ Prove to yourself you can choose.
Think of a time you were worried, then something shifted your focus and you felt calmer and clearer. That’s proof you can move from fear to calm.
✨ Notice how life flows better when you’re calm
Panic and fear don’t solve problems, they drain energy and cloud thinking. Calm allows clarity, creativity, and solutions to appear.
✨ Build your “feel-good muscle” before you need it.
Practice lighter thoughts, so they’re ready when life gets tough.
When my husband became paralyzed, I chose to focus on what I could feel good about. We had health insurance- yay! We’d found a few good doctors we trusted, and I reminded myself that he had healed from health challenges before.
Those positive thoughts and others I went to served me deeply. They helped me stay calm and clear-minded when everything felt uncertain. That calm was a gift, it allowed me to be present for my life, and lead the way with hope for him.
🌿 The Science of Positivity
This isn’t “positive thinking fluff.” Research shows that positive emotional states help regulate stress, strengthen the immune system, and support overall health. (NIH News in Health, 2015)
So feeling good isn’t just emotionally wise - it’s biologically smart.
“There is no greater gift than feeling good in the now moment.”
