We are not our best selves in fear, stress, or overwhelm.

In fight-or-flight survival mode, the body prioritizes immediate survival over everything else: healing slows or temporarily stops, the immune system is suppressed, and our thinking becomes narrow and reactive.

Science shows that stress activates the amygdala,  the brain’s alarm system, while dampening the prefrontal cortex, which governs planning, creativity, and wise decision-making.

This is why fear and overwhelm cloud judgment and block inspiration.

The good news: research shows that self-hypnosis, guided meditations, mindful breathing, or walks in nature activate the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting the body out of fight-or-flight mode.

This reduces cortisol, slows the heart rate, and lowers blood pressure, creating a calm, receptive state.

These practices also quiet the amygdala while increasing activity in the prefrontal cortex, helping your mind plan, problem-solve, and access creativity.
