Real Talk

Clients come to fix their problems fast. Of course. And hypnosis is a good tool for fast positive change, especially in comparison to other modalities. Maybe they want: to lose weight, stop stressing, pain relief, to feel motivated and take action, or reverse a health condition ...

Always I guide them first, to shift their thoughts. And many fight against that. So normal, so natural. Why? Because most of us were trained up to believe the problem has to change before we can feel better.

For many, shifting their thought patterns first to fix a problem is a foreign concept.

We tell ourselves things like:

“No, I can't feel beautiful right now, didn’t you hear me, I'm fat? I can't feel good about myself…”

“No, my mother-in-law is a nightmare. Don’t you get it… I can’t feel calm. Help me change her… she’s the problem.”

“Didn’t you hear me? The government is ruining our country. We need to change things now… how can I relax?”

I get that, I was conditioned to think that way too. And know, this isn't about giving up our visions, dreams, or goals, or liking what we don't like.

But the deal is, fueling our negative thinking doesn’t fix things.

It narrows our world. Can make us short-tempered and grouchy. It steals our joy, robs us of our focus and energy. It makes our peace, our happiness, and our ability to live fully, conditional on the world being perfect.

And the world will never be perfect. There are things outside of our control we’ll never change. And problems often get solved incrementally.

This morning my mind started to fixate on worries around money. An hour earlier, I had made a partial payment on a bill, and I felt bad it wasn't the full amount.

I began thinking of other debt, fueling anxious feelings and fearful scenarios of the future. 

But then I stopped myself and used this helpful reframe that has worked very effectively for me before as well as for clients:

Ask clear ridiculous questions requiring yes or no answers, with no buts allowed:

“You’re acting like you’re in immediate danger. Are you in physical danger right now?” No.

“Is anyone stalking you, you need to hide from?” No.

“Is anyone coming to take your home away and repossess it?” No.

“Have you paid off debt in the past?” Yes.

When I do this, there’s no room for bargaining or spiraling. Just yes or no answers.

Are you safe right now? Yes.

Could you focus on blessings and prosperity you have right now? Yes.

Are you starving? No.

Do you have food in the fridge? Yes.

Do you have money in the bank? Yes.

Within minutes of this effective exercise, I was peaceful again.

But in the past, fears like this could ruin my whole day… stealing my focus, zapping my energy, blocking solutions, and leaving no room for joy.

I invite you, when you feel fearful of the future, to try this too.

If you’re thinking something like, “They’ll judge me at the gym,” ask yourself the most ridiculous questions:

“Will I die if someone judges me as fat?” No.

“Can I exercise if I'm overweight?” Yes.

“Can I enjoy myself even if I'm not at the weight I want?” Yes.

"Long term does going to the gym feel right for my wellbeing?" Yes.

So often, we hold ourselves back because our negative thoughts hijack our minds and take over, creating the opposite reality of what we want: to enjoy life and to live it fully.

In fear:

🧠 Clarity shuts down.
💗 Stress chemistry spikes.
🔥 Pain and inflammation rise.
🍬 Old habits get triggered—overeating, numbing, avoiding.
🌫️ Intuition becomes hard to access.

In calm:

✨ Stress chemicals drop
✨ Clarity turns back on
✨ Your immune system strengthens
✨ Your body relaxes
✨ Better choices feel more natural
✨ Guidance and solutions begin to flow

Science shows:

– Positive emotions improve heart-rate variability
– Lower stress hormones reduce inflammation
– Calm states improve creativity and problem-solving
– Nervous system regulation stops fear patterns in their tracks

Feeling good even when we don't have the perfect life, isn’t about avoiding reality but about creating a better reality, starting now.

 

There is no greater gift than feeling good in the now moment.”
